The kit allows you to receive very weak signals from the outside of a building.
The included 8dBi ensures wide opening vertical and slightly marked decrease in the antenna gain to vary the angle of observation relative to the horizontal plane containing the antenna (as opposed to the higher gain antennas that are often not very useful or counterproductive for situations of use generic).
